Why do visitors leave a website without enquiring?
Usually because contacting the business takes more effort than the visitor is willing to spend at that moment. The fix is to reduce the number of steps between interest and first message — and in South Africa, that most often means WhatsApp.
Make the first message effortless
- Place a click-to-chat WhatsApp button on every page, reachable with one thumb.
- Pre-fill the message so the visitor does not have to compose one.
- Keep a click-to-call option for people who prefer to speak.
- Never hide contact details behind a single 'Contact' page.
Design forms people finish
- Ask only for what you need to reply usefully.
- Use the correct keyboard types on mobile for email and phone fields.
- Show validation errors next to the field, not as one summary.
- Confirm clearly after submission and state when they will hear back.
Give every page one obvious next step
Multiple competing buttons dilute action. Decide the single most valuable step for each page and make that the visually dominant one, with a quieter secondary option.
Remove hesitation before it starts
- State your service areas so nobody wonders whether you cover them.
- Give indicative pricing where you can.
- Show real, completed work.
- Answer common objections in an FAQ section.
Measure it
Track form submissions, WhatsApp clicks and phone taps as distinct events. Without measurement, conversion work is guesswork.
